What Spares Does

Spares is used to identify required spares. It contains information on spares in storage and spares that are purchased. Spares uses an advanced search method to deal with the large potential number of spares.
The spares are used throughout the system to give greater detail and meaning to tasks and machines, they can be purchased giving a costing history and they have storage information.
The advantages of using this software system are:
  • Information on a spare can quickly be looked up using the advanced search facility based on the component type properties.

  • Spares can quickly be located using the spares storage location information.

  • Alternate spares can be identifed if the spare is not in storage.

  • Purchase order requests can be created if the spare that is required is not in storage.

  • Spares can be linked with machines giving a machine inventory. This can be used to identify the spare.

  • Spares usage history can be used to identify reoccurring problem and used for costing analysis.

  • The spares can be linked to tasks giving a task inventory.

  • Lists of spares in storage can be view to do a spares checks.

How Spares Works

To identify a spares a component type needs to be selected. The component type is setup in spares setup it has five potential spares categories used to navigate to it and twelve properties used to identify the spare.
When a component type has been selected the spares can be filtered. The filter's page grid contains the spares for that component type. The filters are the components types properties that contains the spares values. When a spares values is selected the grid will be filtered.
When filtered the spares details can be viewed. The details are split into tabs.
The spares assignment tab shows the tasks the spare is required for and the spares storage locations. Spares can be assigned to tasks from the storage locations, order requests can be created for tasks or storage locations, spares can be book into or out of storage.
The spares order tab has the list of order requests.
The spares usage tab shows the list of tasks and machines the spare has been used on.
The machine list tab shows the list of machine that use the spare.
The suppliers tab shows the suppliers for the spare.
The purchase order tab shows the purchase orders for the spare.
The delivery tab shows the deliveries for the spare.
